We love our favorite characters as they are and those who play them. It is very hard to even imagine anyone other than them playing the characters. But we know that many actors are considered for a role before one is selected. So these are a few of the actors who were initially considered to play our beloved characters on screen:
1. Jake Gyllenhaal: Batman in “Batman Begins”
Ues, we love Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne in the Nolan trilogy, and it is the best portrayal of the black vigilante. Jake Gyllenhaal was a competition for Bale and came close to playing the superhero. But Bale became Nolan’s pick.
2. Emily Blunt: Black Widow in “Iron Man 2”
Scarlett Johansen is great in her portrayal of Black Widow. Scarlett was not the first choice for this character and was rejected for the role. The makers wanted Emily Blunt to play this role, but fate had something different in store as Blunt was working on another movie and was not available.
3. Britney Spears: Allie Hamilton in “The Notebook”
Britney Spears was offered the role of Allie in ‘The Notebook.’ This movie turned Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams into America’s sweethearts. Spears screen tested with Gosling, but Rachel was the pick.
4. Miles Teller: Sebastian Wilder in “La La Land”
La La land has become the most successful films and our favorite musical. The role of Sebastian was first offered to Miles Teller of ‘Whiplash’ fame. Gosling when Teller then appeared too demanding and Ryan Gosling was exceptional in the role.
5. Jaimie Alexander: Wonder Woman in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
Gal Gadot has now become the face of the superhero, Wonder woman. She has portrayed this role in two films and is set to play it again in Justice League and WW2. This role was offered to JaimieAlexander who played Lady Sif in the Marvel franchise. This reduced the chances of her getting the role as she portrays a similar character in Marvel
6. Jennifer Lawrence: Bella Swan in “Twilight
JLaw is the most successful actresses in Hollywood and has an Oscar in her belt. She auditioned for the role of Bella Swan in the Twilight franchise, but the role went to Kristen Stewart.Fans are glad that she was rejected and she went to star as KatnissEverdeen.
7. Will Smith: Neo in “The Matrix”
The role that was played by Keanu Reeves was offered to Will Smith after his success in MIB and Independence Day. He turned down the role thinking the movie was confusing and may become a mess. He wanted to sign up for other films and turned this big opportunity down.
8. Christina Applegate: Elle Woods in “Legally Blonde”
Reese Witherspoon rose to fame with her portrayal of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. The role was offered to Christina Applegate who turned it down as she thought she had done a similar stuff before and did not want to repeat herself.
9. Gwyneth Paltrow: Rose in “Titanic”
The story of Rose and Jack was almost played by other actors before Leo and Kate were selected. Gwyneth was a star then, and she auditioned for the role of Rose and came close to playing it. The makers went for Kate Winslet.
10. Christian Bale: Jack Dawson in “Titanic”
Christian Bale and Leo were rivals, and Bale auditioned for the roles that eventually went to Leo. Later James Cameron did not pick Bale for the role of Jack as he wanted an American and Bale is British.
