Mark Hamill and James Gunn had discussed working together for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 on social media. The director had announced the completion of the first draft script for the third film in the trilogy, and it is in its early stages. Rumors seem to indicate that the production could may start in 2019. There is a whole lot of time to cast the roles, and Mark Hamill may star in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The talks of Mark Hamill joining the MCU had started on Twitter when one fan asked James Gunn to suggest Hamill for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn and Hamill are active on social media and Gunn replied by proposing that Hamill and he discuss the same. Mark Hamill said,

“I would be happy to do so, both as a good neighbor & an unemployed actor.”

James Gunn had laughed at Mark Hamill’s joke and then said that they must meet up. The idea of Star-Lord and Luke Skywalker himself is too much for fans to take in. Josh Gad was excited about this.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is a long way from its 2020 release. It seems like a Mark Hamill appearance is not out of the question. If the actor is in Star Wars 9, the production for this starts by summer, and he would have finished his work for the same.

Mark Hamill does seem like a perfect fit for a Guardians crew. Hamill got his first experience with motion capture work on The Last Jedi when he had asked Rian Johnson if he could voice a character on Canto Bight.
