Is Abrams suggesting about a new Star Wars Universe saga?

Although Star Wars: The Last Jedi hasn’t released yet, the director of Episode IX, JJ Abrams is sharing clues about the next Star Wars franchise chapter. Abrams came on board to direct the ninth Star Wars movie in September after the exit of Colin Trevorrow from the project.

He is working on the script alongside co-writer Chris Terrio (Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice), and he wants the film to get rid of the past. He is aiming for the future. Since Disney, the owners of the franchise are planning to continue the franchise for many more years; this makes great logical sense.

Abrams appeared for an interview on BBC Radio 4 with the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s composer MicahelGiacchino and said, “I feel like we need to approach this with the same excitement that we had when we were kids loving what these movies were and, at the same time, we have to take them places that they haven’t gone, and that’s sort of our responsibility.” This remark could have both a literal and a figurative meaning.

The film is going to discover new planets and introduces unseen alien species as well as several droids. However, the concept has a lot more to offer in terms of entering uncharted space in the Star Wars Universe. The present trilogy is a continuation of the saga that was initiated in 1977 by Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in A New Hope. More than four decades later, time is ideal for venturing into fresh story plots.

The Star Wars is based in a huge galaxy, and a lot of stories are ripe for telling with many of them getting an opportunity to feature in projects such as Star Wars Rebels. There might be a time after Episode IX that a new saga is brought forward on the big screen.

This definitely seems to be on Abrams’ mind as he plans for the future. “It’s a strange thing. Michael [Giacchino]’s worked on things like Planet of the Apes, and Star Trek, and Star Wars and these are the things of dreams,” he said. “Yet we can’t just revel in that; we have to go elsewhere.”

We have no clue about the future of Star Wars, but, it sounds exciting after hearing Abrams views.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi releases on December 17 and Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled to release on December 20, 2019. In between, Han Solo standalone film will come out on May 25, 2018.
