The wait was much longer than expected, but, eventually the initial trailer for Sicario 2: Soldado has made its way to us. The highly sought after sequel to the 2015’s blockbuster Sicario has its first action-packed footage creating a great deal of excitement. The sequel once again brings back the original movie’s stars Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro together.

Before the footage was released online, Brolin had referred to the sequel as more ‘severe’ and a great deal ‘bigger’ than the first movie where he had featured as CIA Agent Matt Graver. Benicio Del Toro has called it to be ‘really hardcore straight line’ and a ‘little more complicated.’ Del Toro has come back to play the role of Graver’s ‘man on fire’ Alejandro as the duo takes on the drug lords.

The original movie paid attention primarily to the F.B.I agent Kate Macer (Emily Blunt) as she was recruited into an unofficial DEA task force. Now Alejandro and Graver are working without any oversight. The drug war has become intense, and the mafia is protecting the terrorists across the US – Mexico border. Graver steps in to handle the issue, and one of his new bosses is Catherine Keener.

Emily Blunt isn’t a part of Sicario 2, not even briefly. The first film had wrapped up her story arc. However, as far as Benicio Del Toro’s story is concerned, there was a left to be told yet, as the trailer below will show you.

Alejandro is seeking revenge from the killers of his family. He has now got a new assignment, which features a drug lord’s daughter (Isabella Moner). This is what Del Toro said about the intentions of his character this time.

“[He] either has to follow orders or make the right decision and so that’s kind of where the character’s stuck.”

The original movie’s director Dennis Villeneuve and cinematographer Roger Deakins couldn’t be back for the sequel which was to release within three years. Stefano Sollima (Suburra) is now calling the shots. As seen here, he has added a lot of impact to the latest Sicario chapter. The trailer has been released via Entertainment Weekly.  You can also check out the latest photos here as well as the full trailer for you to enjoy without any distractions.
