Marvel Comics is reviving the X-Men in a big way and have announced two new X-Men series from January. One of these will bring together the much loved X-Men pair of Rogue & Gambit and unleash the on-off romance between this tortured mutant couple as they embark on new adventures.
The other series will see David Haller come back to the Marvel Universe in a brand new Legion series. You can check the covers that were unveiled along with the announcements here:
While Marvel hasn’t shared the details about the creative teams or the storylines, however, they promised to reveal further details at this week’s New York Comic Con, most probably as a part of the Marvel Legacy: X-Men panel scheduled for Friday.
The success of Noah Hawley’s FX television series Legion has prompted them to launch the Legion solo comic. The series was highly acclaimed, and now it has got an extension for Season Two.
Marvel Universe hasn’t seen Legion since the ending of Si Spurrier’sX-Men: Legacy series which saw him using his reality warping powers to wipe himself out of existence. Now that this mighty mutant is making a comeback, this is bound to cause ripples among the X-Men and the other Marvel mutants.
Rogue has been seen for many years now as an Avenger who has already led the Avengers Unity Division in Uncanny Avengers.
We have seen Gambit sit on the X-Men universe external fencing for a long time now and he has hardly appeared after a short cameo alongside X-Factor in the Peter David short series All-New X-Factor.
They both got entangled in the new narrative by the Shadow King in the ongoing Charles Soule’s series Astonishing X-Men. Now, this reunion is set to be a long-term thing.
Earlier Marvel had announced the launch of Phoenix Resurrection: The Return of Jean Grey in December and now the announcement about Legion and Rogue & Gambit’s January launch has come. The Jean Grey series is likely to feature the entry of the adult Jean Grey into the Marvel Universe, and that is going to cause tremendous upheavals among the X-Men.
