Thor: Ragnarok has been receiving fabulous critics’ reviews, and it is not going to be long before fans ask for a Hulk solo film. There have been two Hulk movies in the past, none of which did well.

However, we must note that none of those films had Mark Ruffalo playing the green guy. While Eric Bana played Bruce Banner in the 2003 version, Edward Norton did it in the 2008 film. After that Ruffalo has been playing Hulk in the Avengers franchise and he is totally nailing it.

With Mark Ruffalo becoming synonymous with the character, there is a far greater acceptance among fans for a Hulk solo project. However, there is a catch here. The rights of distributing Hulk solo films are held by Universal. Therefore, Marvel can’t make a new Hulk solo film unless they agree to share the profits with Universal. Since Marvel is already doing great in terms of making money at Box-office, there is no reason why Marvel Studios would want to launch a project where they have to share the benefits.

This is what Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, told IndieWire during an interview about the prospects of a Hulk solo film.

I think that back and forth continues, and I don’t know if it will ever happen,” said Feige. “But I will tell you, it makes me very, very happy going from a world, ten years ago, when people were questioning the viability of Hulk in a standalone film, to getting asked every other interview, ‘When will there be another standalone Hulk?'”

This answer gives no definite clue, but, we will surely see Mark Ruffalo playing Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok releasing in two weeks’ time on November 3, 2017.
