The latest set of Justice League photos also featured Chernobyl, which led to speculation that Darkseid and the New Gods might have been behind the catastrophic disaster. For the uninitiated, the Nuclear Power Plant in Chernobyl, Pripyat, Ukraine had suffered a meltdown during an accident in one of its reactors in 1986. There was a sudden power surge and following fires which ultimately turned into a full scale meltdown of the nuclear power plant. The city was immediately evacuated and ever since, it has been a 30 mile radius banned zone around the accident site.
Countless stories have been created around the Chernobyl meltdown and it has featured in a lot of movies over the last three decades including Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Chernobyl Diaries, and A Good Day To Die Hard. Now, we might see it once again in the next month’s release Justice League. Right from the time that the first official trailer came out, people have been speculating about the film’s final battle taking place around the Chernobyl disaster site and now the new photos are probably adding credence to such speculations.
A new set of Justice League pictures was released by Empire yesterday and among them, there is this one photograph featuring Batman (sitting) and Wonder Woman (standing) next to the Batcomputer.
Apart from the Armored Batsuit and Alfred Pennyworth in the background, some keen eyed viewers found proof of Chernobyl being seen in the film on the screen behind Wonder Woman. To be precise, the visual is of the Pripyat Amusement Park, located just a short distance away from the former nuclear power plant.
This photo is evidence of Chernobyl featuring in the movie and it might very well be the proof about it being the venue for the final battle of this film, which is shown to take place under red skies in the trailer of the movie. The confirmation about Chernobyl being in the film brings us to the next question, why? Why would this latest grouping of superheroes fight the Steppenwolf and his Parademons army at Chernobyl?
This is a comic book based film and that offers various premises. It could be that Chernobyl is right above the location of the New Gods’ first battle with Earth as shown in the prologue scene of the film. Another possibility is that this is where one of the Boom Tube generators connecting Earth to Apokolips is located. Yet another premise could be about Darkseid and his Mother Boxes having caused the nuclear meltdown originally. However, we would be able to find out the truth only in November when Justice League releases in theaters.Â
