Jeepers Creepers 3 Premiere Cancelled Due To Protest Threats

It’s been a long time since we have been hearing about Jeepers Creepers 3 and now the film is ready to give the audiences a great time with its exciting new scary moments. It took Director Victor Salva several years to get the project going and now he has finally managed to wrap up the production work on this third part of his scary film. The premiere of the film was set to take place in two weeks from now. However, it is his criminal past that led to protests strong enough that the premiere event had to be cancelled.

The September 13 event was set to take place at the TCL Chinese Theatre, LA and it had sold out just in a few days. All three parts of the franchise were set to be screened back-to-back with the cast members in attendance. However, the protest threats forced the TCL management to avoid any risk to their reputation by cancelling the event. Horror Freak News shared the message that the ticket buyers of the Jeepers Creepers 3 event had received from TCL.

“Dear Valued Customer, We would like to inform you that due to events beyond our control, the screening event hosted by @Moviedude18 for ‘Jeepers Creepers and Jeepers Creepers 3’ on Wednesday September 13, 2017 will no longer take place at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause your party. We have worked with Fandango to refund your purchase directly. You should see the refund in your account within the next few days. We would like to offer you free passes. You may redeem them at the box office upon your next visit by showing this email or we can mail them to you if you provide us with your mailing address. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience.”

Director Victor Salva was convicted for having oral sex with a minor working on his horror film Clownhouse in 1988. As per the evidence produced in the court, he had gone on to videograph the incident. He faced 11 charges of sexual abuse out of which four were proven in the court. He went to jail for 18 months post his conviction. These are the crimes which prompt a large number of people to boycott Jeepers Creepers 3 or any other project that Salva takes up. Frankly, the kind of his crimes that he committed make such protests understandable.

Kory Davis, the organizer of the event hoped to make it a grand success because of the passion fans had for Jeepers Creepers 3 and had no hand in the event getting cancelled. He broke the disappointing news to the event’s attendees through a press conference. A statement was released by TCL clarifying that he hadn’t played a part in the turn of events.

“I want to make it 100% clear: This is not Davis’ fault; over the years he’s produced many successful screenings throughout Los Angeles, including an incredible double-feature of Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky last month. These truly are circumstances beyond his control. The event was legitimate and was intended to be the world premiere of Jeepers Creepers 3.”

Earlier reports had suggested that Jeepers Creepers 3 was scheduled to release in September, however, as per the reports that came in later, it wasn’t true and only the premiere was scheduled in September. However, this cancellation and protest scenario makes it clear that it is going to be a tough time releasing this film and controversy is bound to erupt when it happens.

The film revolves around the incidents that take place in between the first two parts of the film and there are plans to make a fourth movie based on years after the events of the first film of the franchise with Gina Phillips making a comeback. Now with the cancellation of the premiere itself and no announcement about the release of the film, the prospects of the Jeepers Creepers 4 look really low. We will share further updates about Jeepers Creepers 3 as soon as they are available.
