Marvel’s director duo Anthony and Joe Russo recently spoke about the casting for Avengers: Infinity War and they claimed that this film would feature a mind-blowing 67 characters.

67? Seriously? We are baffled to merely think how can anyone even think about enlisting 67 superheroes in a standard feature film? It turns out that they didn’t mean it literally as they later explained:

“We were being figurative when we said [67 characters] and people took it as literal but there’s a lot of characters. Infinity War is meant to be the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe up to that point. It’s very ambitious in its scope… We’re not talking about lead characters, just people that make an appearance.”

Thankfully, that is a lot more sensible. The question is who all are going to feature in Infinity War? There has not been any confirmation about the cast, and we believe that things would take a definite shape once Thor: Ragnarok finishes its box-office run.

However, despite his being a new entrant, one star from Marvel Netflix TV shows, would be quite keen to be a part of Infinity War.

Charlie Cox Wants In!

During an interview with Uproxx, the Daredevil Season 2 actors Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal spoke about the next season.   While answering a question about whether the Hell’s Kitchen defender will be a part of Avengers: Infinity War, Charlie stated that he is a passionate Marvel fan and he would love to be a part of the cast of Infinity War. At the same time, he also clarified that he had not been approached by the studios so far.

“Can you imagine? That would be the coolest thing ever… Marvel TV and Marvel Studios are two very different things. So even if the character were to appear in that film, that doesn’t necessarily mean that I would appear in that film.

He also hinted that he was not entirely sure if Marvel Studios would cast him for Infinity War even if they went ahead and cast his character Daredevil in the film. He fiercely expressed his desire to stay on board as the masked hero:

“I WILL pick a fight with the guy that they choose!”

Is That A Possibility?

Frankly, there is no reason why it can’t happen.

Right from the time of Daredevil Season 1, it has been known that the Marvel Netflix shows are within the MCU and that makes them exist in the same creative universe as the films by Marvel Studios.

While we have never seen Daredevil joining the team in the comic books, he has been seen fighting alongside them, and he was seen on Steve Rogers’ side in Civil War.

Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron have both been referred to multiple times in Daredevil as well as Jessica Jones, but, the shows haven’t been mentioned in the movies. However, as stated by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, a crossover between the TV and the film universe is “inevitable” and that makes us hopeful:

“The schedules don’t always quite match up to make that possible – it’s easier for [the shows], they’re more nimble and faster and produce things quicker than we do, which is one of the main reasons you see the repercussions of Winter Soldier or Age of Ultron in the show. But going forward, and certainly as they do more shows and cast them with such great actors as they have—particularly in Daredevil—that may occur.”

Therefore, going by what Feige said, we are likely to see a crossover sometime, but, his praise for the casting of Daredevil means he must be impressed by Matt Murdock/Daredevil played by Charlie Cox.

Marvel Studios, please make it happen.

Cox is also totally on board with this idea as stated by him during the video interview:

“That would be a dream, but it’s not something that has been discussed with me at this point.”

This is what the Russo Brothers Say…

There is not much clarity as of now since the scripts for Infinity War are still in the works. The only thing that we have heard so far is that they have got “two excellent outlines” from writer duo Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and they have just been working on the first draft of the screenplay.

When the question of crossover possibility was put forward to the Russo Brothers by Collider and the query was made about any Marvel characters from the Netflix show being a part of Avengers: Infinity War, this is what they said:

“Anything is possible in Marvel.”

So, our fingers are crossed, and we are currently entertaining ourselves with the Daredevil Season 2 on Netflix.
