Last month Atari had shown us a teaser that they are coming back in the gaming world with a new console that will be called Atari box. Back then, they just gave us cryptic website and a small teaser about its design, but today’s reveal takes us one step further in the new territory of Atari Console, as they have published some high-res pictures of their new console.

To be honest, they look like ultra cool modem, but that’s a great thing because they are keeping the design closer to its famous predecessor of 80’s. The console has a fantastic wooden panel on the front, and the top of the box has artistic ribs similar to the original Atari gaming set. The console has some options on the colors; there are also models where there is no wooden panel instead it has black or red color. On the connectivity side, we have 4 USB slots, an Ethernet Jack, SD card slot and an HDMI port.

There is no specific information on what kind of games one can play on this console, but Atari’s team has given us bare minimum info:-

“Our objective is to create a new product that stays true to our heritage, while appealing to both old and new fans of Atari…. As you can guess, those ports suggest modern internal specs. It also means that while we will be delivering classic gaming content, we will also be delivering current gaming content.”

The design is not concrete; it can be changed if the fans have issues about it. There are still looking at the feedback from the social media community.

Gaming console market is extremely tough and competitive, and it’s almost impossible to kick out any of the established players like PlayStation, Nintendo, or X-Box from the game. If ATARI are just planning to cash in some money by giving us a Retro console that plays the great Atari games of the past (Which you can play on your PC without wasting a penny by emulators), then Atari Box will be crushed completely and will be terminated within a year. However, if they are planning to do something like Nintendo Switch, it can actually work. They need to give us some new high-end games that are exclusive to ATARI because nobody wants another console that runs random Indie or retro games. Mobile gaming has dominated the market share for every game out there that doesn’t require multi-core high-powered processors. ATARI’s console has to be absolutely BEST in doing whatever they want to achieve here.
