3. Tom Kazansky “Iceman” (Val Kilmer)

Then: Lieutenant Tom Kazansky, nicknamed “Iceman”, was Tom Cruise’s “Maverick’s” arch rival at Top Gun. Iceman, who was also Top Gun academy’s best student, had absolutely no respect for Maverick’s boisterous piloting antics. Val Kilmer’s notable roles were in movies “Top Secret” and “Real Genius” before “Iceman” locked horns with “Maverick” in “Top Gun”.

Now: Val Kilmer’s acting prowess and “Top Gun” fame helped land the role as the Caped Crusader in “Batman Forever”. He also starred in the movie “Willow”. On the more dramatic side, he was cast as the legendary rock n’ roll front man Jim Morrison in a movie about Morrison’s band “The Doors”. 4. Nick Bradshaw “Goose” (Anthony Edwards)

Then: “Goose” was “Maverick’s” radar intercept officer in “Top Gun”. “Goose” is far more careful than his partner, but that isn’t enough to stop “Maverick” from causing mayhem.  Prior to “Top Gun”, Edwards’ best known acting gig was in “Revenge of the Nerds”

Now: Although Edwards appeared in various movies such as “The Client”, “Pet Sematary Two” and “Mr. North”, his most engaging and memorable gig after “Top Gun” happened in the long-running TV medical drama series “ER”. From 1998 to 2002, Edwards starred in the series as Dr Mark Greene. He later moved back to movies, acting in movies such as “Big Sur” and “Zodiac”. He returned to movies that took to the air by imparting his voice acting skills to Disney’s “Planes”. He also starred in TV series “Zero Hour”.
