Marvel Studios has been growing the roster since 2008, but there is a team that is yet to join this franchise. The film rights have kept the X-Men from joining the MCU, but an X-Men producer seems to like to see the crossover happen.

Vanity Fair had shared many pieces that honored the MCU on the cusp of its 10th anniversary. X-Men producer, Lauren Shuler Donner had shown her support to have the mutants team up with the Avengers:

“Well, I wish. I would love it,” she said. “I would love it. But it’s not for me to say.”

Feige had chimed in on this matter and refused to give fans any hope:

“Well, the problem is whenever I say anything about it, it becomes 15 headlines. So would we like to? Yeah, of course,” Feige said, signaling his continued desire to get the X-Men back.

“Is there any movement toward it at all? No. Same thing. Same status.”

The rumors about the X-Men opening up to MCU had run wild when the news about a Disney Fox merger had gone public. According to a few reports, Disney had been in talks with Fox to buy most of the company’s assets. It now seems like the talks have died down for the time being.

There are many reasons Fox will be hesitant to let a franchise like X-Men go. The franchise is doing well thanks to big hits like Logan and Deadpool. The series shall expand further in 2018 when The New Mutants and Deadpool 2 hit theatres.
