The Gal Gadot-starring Wonder Woman has created history in more than one sense. Not only it brought the sinking ship of DCEU back on the shore and became the biggest movie with a female superhero, but it also made Patty Jenkins had the highest grossing female director. And now, it seems like she might also become the highest-paid female director.

Ever since the success of Wonder Woman, its sequel was speculated. We waited for the official announcement at the Comic Con this year, with the return of Jenkins. It only made sense, since the director had expressed some great ideas for the sequel.

Yet, there was no confirmation, which looks like that Jenkins had no official contract for the next movie. If Warner Bros. has any sense, they will sign Jenkins back on the team. And this would be the golden opportunity for Jenkins.

“Wonder Woman” has grossed $800 million worldwide so far, and this is before the movie’s official release in Japan. This puts Patty Jenkins in a powerful position. It has been said that Jenkins and Warner Bros. and in the final stages of the negotiations for the new contract, which might make her the highest-paid female director and almost on par with the elite male directors.

Wonder Woman starred Gal Gadot as the title character, while Chris Pine portrayed Steve Trevor. The sequel, Wonder Woman 2, will hit the theatres in December 2019.
