A fan has created a retro version of Avengers: Infinity War trailer, and it gives a fresh twist to the highly anticipated blockbuster from Marvel. The film’s official trailer turned out to be a huge gift for the fans, and it shattered the existing viewership records besides building up hype about a movie that is already ruling the fandom several months prior to its cinematic release. The new trailer shows things in an entirely new light by imagining how the film would have been if it had featured various Marvel TV shows from the past.

Marvel Cinematic Universe is difficult to imagine without its leading characters. In the ten years of its existence, Marvel Studios has perfected the casting process even when some of them sounded weird initially, once they got going, they all have done really well. Despite that, there was an era when the Marvel film and TV versions were a lot different compared to what we see now. The new old-fashioned Infinity War trailer invokes nostalgia and reminds us how the Marvel characters were a couple of decades or so ago.

The Youtuber Darth Blender has created this two, and a half minute-clip (check it out above) which gathers the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as Thanos lurks in the dark, waiting for the opportune moment to attack.  But, instead of the regulars such as Robert Downey Jr, Ruffalo, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth, this trailer showcases earlier versions of Marvel heroes played by the actors from the 80s and 90s. The trailer features actors like Reb Brown as Captain America, Burt Reynolds as Tony Stark, Peter Hooten as Doctor Strange, Nicholas Hammond as Spider-Man, Eric Allan Kramer as Thor and Lou’s Ferrigno Hulk. In the meanwhile, even before David Hasselhoff became the imaginary father of Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, he had played Nick Fury, and he is also a part of this fan trailer.

The video maker went even further and added Eddie Murphy’s Falcon, Jean-Claude Van Damme’s Winter Soldier, Chuck Norris as Punisher, Leonora Ruffo as Black Widow and Dennis Quaid as Star-Lord beside his own adaptation of Alf’s Rocket Raccoon. However, in case all of them are insufficient to prevent Thanos from winning, the Fantastic Four also jump into the battle. However, this version is way beyond Fox’s two movies based on the Four guys. Instead, the trailer depicts Alex Hyde-White as Reed Richards, Rebecca Staab as Sue Storm, Jay Underwood as Johnny Storm and Carl Ciarfalio as The Thing from the unreleased Roger Corman helmed film starring the Marvel’s first family. This gave the video a much-aged feel.

Undoubtedly, the clip is intoxicating and it also brilliantly shows how Marvel has gone great distances when we talk about creating the TV or cinematic adaptations of their comic books. The MCU is a merger of numerous attempts at getting things right. A few consider the franchise’s rise to the top as an easy accomplishment, but, even though these shows are not officially canon in the MCU, they prove that there was a time when the characters were not cool and popular as they are present.

A lot of people expect the present trend of comic book IPs, especially the Marvel Studios comics, will fade out ultimately, just like the trend of Western movies. We can’t say for sure if that will happen, but, in any case, Marvel head Kevin Feige and his supporters are constantly getting better at their job with every new film that they create. Now the deal between Disney and Fox is nearly done, and it won’t be wrong to say that the future is indicative of the further growth of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
