Marvel’s world features a lot of extremely powerful characters. However, both Hulk and Thor are almost the topmost names on their superhero list. This Thunder God from Asgard and the green giant are not only capable of beating seemingly invincible enemies but, they are also able to handle extreme environments and forces. This is why fans have been debating for a number of decades about the prospective winner in a Hulk vs. Thor matchup. Now, the iconic Stan Lee has come out with his opinion on the subject, and he says that Thor would prevail simply because he is not a human-like Thor.
The legendary Marvel Comics co-creator recently appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel called Cat Country and a 14-year-old KJ Ricci interviewed him. He was straightaway asked about who in his opinion would win a Thor vs. Hulk fight. Lee’s answer was crisp and matter of fact:
“I would have to say, Thor, because as strong as Hulk is, he’s still a mortal. Thor is one of the Norse gods!”
The reason given by Stan Lee is a crucial one, and it is exactly the thing that Thor fans have been harping about right from the start. There is no doubt about Hulk’s incredible strength and endurance as the green monster, however, at the end of the day, he is simply a soft-spoken Doctor Bruce Banner. It is not as if this brilliant scientist is a weakling, but, it is his Hulk self which is too much for Thor to handle in a direct battle.
Stan Lee is the co-creator of Hulk as well as Thor alongside Jack Kirby, therefore, his opinion matters. The truth is that there is no definitive unconditional answer to the debate. Lee’s point is valid, but, there are various counter-arguments too.
Hulk’s fans state that the green monster fights no holds barred when he is in his outraged self whereas Thor is likely to follow the proper fight rules. The other thing to notice here is that the madder he gets, the stronger Hulk gets. Therefore, this debate is pretty much like running around in circles, and there is no end to this.
