Thor: Ragnarok released last Friday, and the film has already done even better than expected in the opening weekend. It has already surged to collect $121 million domestically.

By the time we got the first information, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s 17th outing was set to cross $100 million in the opening weekend. However, nobody really knew how much more would it make beyond the $100 million mark. Some expected it to get $115 million while the more optimistic ones put the tally at $118 million. Ultimately the film has managed to do even better than that and has totaled $121 million at the US box-office and $427 million globally. This includes $55.6  million from China which is already over the total of Thor: The Dark World in its entire time in the region.

The numbers are huge for the third chapter of a franchise which has earlier even tanked at the box office. Contrary to the one before it, Thor: Ragnarok rode on a great deal of buzz and has now got a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. A lot of people are saying that it is not only the best Thor film ever but, the best Marvel film till date. Such a tremendous and positive vibe has ensured that the film is going to go way past the earlier totals of movies before it, i.e., $449 million and $644 million respectively.

The Taika Waititi film Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Jeff Goldblum as The Grandmaster, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, and Karl Urban as Skurge.
