The Avengers: Infinity War trailer had left fans with many questions, and one of the biggest curiosities is how the events of Thor: Ragnarok factor into Infinity War. We had learned in the Infinity War trailer that Loki stole the Tesseract from Odin’s vault. Infinity War promos revealed that Thor is again wielding his hammer, Mjolnir.

The Infinity War trailer is out, and the footage seems to confirm a few earlier leaks from a LEGO tie-in to the movie, which had some big spoilers for what might be going on with Thor’s weaponry.

After being defeated by Thanos as he takes the Space Infinity Stone from Loki’s Tesseract, Thor smacks into the Guardians of the Galaxy’s ship.

Thor, Rocket, and Groot travel to Nidavellir, the home of the dwarf blacksmiths, where the Mjolnir was created.

After encountering a few resistances, Thor and Co. use the “space forge” to create a new weapon for Thor.

The breakdown explains a few shots we had seen of Thor in the Infinity War trailer; Thor is standing in front of what is the Space Forges and later appearing to struggle in an Atlas-like attempt to get some machine working:

Even though the Mjolnir is pictured in a recent Infinity War photo shoots, the images are not any confirmation that the hammer will return. The images have Thor wearing a small scar on his right eye, and we know that he sports an eye-patch.

When it was had been revealed that Mjolnir would be destroyed during Ragnarok, we had speculated on what the weapon Thor could replace it with. While the LEGO breakdown describes the weapon Thor and Co. seek out as “the ax-thunderbolt,” it would not be surprising if this is Jarnbjorn, the mythic ax.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018. Thor: Ragnarok is now playing in theaters. Other upcoming MCU movies are Black Panther (February 16, 2018), Ant-Man and the Wasp (July 6, 2018), Captain Marvel (March 8, 2019), the fourth Avengers movie (May 3, 2019), the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming (July 5, 2019), and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2020).\
