Recently, there were rumors emanating from Warner Bros. which suggested that fans should cool down a little bit regarding their expectations about a Flashpoint film, which will depend upon the performance of the upcoming Justice League movie.

However, a new report has revealed that the character of Ezra Miller is a key performer in the upcoming film and a solo Flash film is under works at the studio.

The Wall Street Journal report states that the Flashpoint film was a priority project for DC Films, as per the WB film division head Toby Emmerich. This is a proof of how Flash is considered vital by the studio executives:

In “Justice League,” Ezra Miller’s Flash, who is young, socially awkward and hides his fear through humor, is viewed at Warner as the movie’s breakout character.

Ben Fritz, the writer of this WSJ report further added on social media that there will be a director finalized soon.

The news about a certain clearance of the film comes after Variety’s Justin Kroll had earlier said that WB was in a wait and watch mode about Flashpoint and other solo movies based on Cyborg and Green Lantern Corps and their fate depended on the success of Justice League.

A little insider tidbit, so I’ve been tracking various movies in this world, director-wise, specifically Flashpoint,” said Kroll. “I’ve heard they’ve slowed that search down to see how this film does because I don’t know if they’re giving everyone their own movie now. Aquaman is already shot.”

In response to a question about there being no director for the Cyborg film, Kroll said “Well obviously that’s not happening anytime soon. Neither is Man of Steel 2.”

“But I’ve heard that- I keep asking, and they’re like, let’s see how this film does before we go forward on those types of movies,” Kroll further added.

Although the recent buzz around Justice League is a factor, the confidence that Emmerich has in the character is being publicized immediately in the wake of Kroll’s comments, and that’s confusing.

Is the commitment towards a Flashpoint film valid? Or the Warner Bros. executives doing a face-saver after witnessing the early responses to the Justice League? We are bound to find out soon when the announcement is made regarding the much awaited Flash solo movie.

Justice League will premiere in theaters on November 17.
