Tim Miller has been signed to direct the James Cameron produced Terminator 6. There were several failed attempts to rejuvenate the franchise, and now Cameron is set to regain the Terminator rights in 2019. Thus, he has already started working to give the franchise a major overhaul. Since he already has four Avatar films on the production slate, he had been searching for someone to join him regarding this project.

After Cameron’s plans to reboot Terminator franchise were revealed, the name of Tim Miller instantly came up for the directorial chair. For the last few months, it was all a speculation as nothing was officially signed.

Now Skydance put up a social media post which has since been shared by Skynet’s Army which confirmed Miller’s name as the director of the next Terminator movie. The confirmation came in the form of an invite to the special 3D screening of T2, an event which will have Cameron and Miller in conversation before the start of the film. This is what the invite promised about the event:

Join filmmakers James Cameron and Tim Miller on the Paramount Lot for an exclusive conservation with The Hollywood Reporter’s Matt Belloni about their collaboration on the upcoming Terminator.

Since the formal confirmation has come for Tim Miller, now fans can raise their excitement about the new flavor that the Deadpool maker will bring to the franchise. He has a great background of visual arts courtesy his association with Blur Studios, the company that designed sequences in Avatars as well as several Star Wars video games and the Batman: Arkham Series. Therefore, we can surely expect some brilliant creations from him and Cameron.

As his association was not earlier confirmed, we have no idea what kind of plans Miller has for the franchise. However, we do know that Cameron has a closet full of concepts and has already been thinking about a new Terminator trilogy beginning with the first film to be directed by Miller. Not only that, but Cameron is also bound to make this film contemporary, but, we can be sure that the film will be relatable to the past films. Arnold has already announced that he is going to come back and now the only thing to figure out is the storyline.

Next week we will see Miller and Cameron talk on a public platform and thus, we don’t have to wait much longer to know what the future holds. Fortunately, the expectations are not sky high of late. However, Cameron has to live up to the precedent set by the first two Terminator films.
