Spider-Man can do everything that has been done by Batman V Superman. Isn’t that the famous quote about him?

The Spidey’s latest film recently overtook the 2016 mega fight between the Cryptonic superhero and the Dark Knight at the US box-office and there is one more month to go before the film stops ringing the cash registers.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is an outcome of a deal between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios which has allowed the iconic character to become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the film has so far raked in $330,361,861 domestically and that’s more than $1600 over the tally of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

This may not sound like a huge gap, however, the film has many more screenings to go and its Blu-ray/DVD launch is also coming up which means that it will end up with a much bigger lead compared to the Batman v  Superman film. We should also take into account that the film has recently been released in new territories like China and Japan and it has been doing well there.

Compared to the domestic markets, Batman v Superman has been a better performer overseas and its total box-office collection was $873 million out of which $542 million came from overseas.

Current tally of Spider-Man: Homecoming is $861 million out of which $531 million has come from overseas and its China debut happened on September 8 where it netted $69 million on its opening weekend and after the second weekend it has crossed the $104 million mark, thus, it is still going strong and has already gone past the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s China box office collection of $95.7 million.

Although these numbers are not a proof of how fans received the film, they do mean that both the films have been successful. There were long queues to witness the Batman and Superman beat each other to pulp on the big screen and the queues are back to see Spider-Man swinging through the skyscrapers of MCU.

The film’s success augurs well for the new association between Marvel and Sony and it might just be the start of a long term successful Spider-Man franchise.

Spider-Man: Homecoming Digital HD release will happen on September 26, followed by Blu-ray and DVD release on October 17.
