Fandango has become the top digital platform for all movie related things, and it surveyed over 8,000 moviegoers regarding the films, stars, and characters, that they are most excited to see in the coming year. The survey was a part of its annual online exercise, and Fandango conducted a poll from December 18 to December 26, 2017, asking fans to choose their top movies for 2018. The ultimate results are listed below, and Marvel Studios has grabbed the top two spots with Avengers: Infinity War being the most anticipated film of 2018, only days after IMDB users gave it the same honor. Black Panther from Marvel has got the second spot. This is what Erik Davis, Managing Editor Fandango had to say via a statement.

“The new year promises a lot of excitement at the multiplex, but fans are particularly looking forward to Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther, which boasts a groundbreaking ensemble and promises to be one of the most talked-about movies of 2018. These two films ruled our survey results, with Panther cast members Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, and Winston Duke figuring prominently in each survey category. 2018 looks to offer fresh takes, new and diverse voices, and beloved characters fans can’t wait to see back on the big screen again.”

The top 10 most anticipated movies for 2018 include Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (June 22) in third place, followed by Deadpool 2 (June 1) in fourth place and Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25) rounds out the top 5. A lot of people wonder whether Solo: A Star Wars Story will be rescheduled to a December 2018 release, since the film’s production ended just a few months ago, after massive reshoots by Ron Howard who had replaced Phil Lord and Chris Miller as the movie’s directors. The other entries in top 10 are Incredibles 2 (June 15), Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (November 16), A Wrinkle in Time (March 9), X-Men: Dark Phoenix (November 2) and Ocean’s 8 (June 8).

Fandango also asked users to vote on various other topics such as “Fan Favorite Actress,” a poll won by Scarlett Johansson, who has two major films releasing in 2018, MCU’s Avengers: Infinity War and the animated feature from Fox Searchlight Isle of Dogs being directed by Wes Anderson. The actress following Scarlett Johansson is Jennifer Lawrence (X-Men: Dark Phoenix and Red Sparrow coming in 2018), Zoe Saldana who has Avengers: Infinity War, Sandra Bullock with Ocean’s 8 and Emilia Clarke with Solo: A Star Wars Story. Among the Fan Favorite Actors, Chris Pratt gets the top spot for Avengers: Infinity War and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, followed by Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool 2), Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans (Avengers: Infinity War), and Dwayne Johnson (Skyscraper and Rampage).

Danai Gurira from Black Panther was rated top in the list of Rising Female Movie Stars, followed by Storm Reid (A Wrinkle In Time), Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Olivia Cooke (Thoroughbreds and Ready Player One), and Pixie Davies (Mary Poppins Returns). The Rising Male Movie Star list was topped by Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story), Winston Duke (Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War), Tye Sheridan (Ready Player One and X-Men: Dark Phoenix), Levi Miller (A Wrinkle In Time), and Charlie Heaton from The New Mutants. The Most Anticipated Comic Book Character in a Standalone Movie happened to be Chadwick Boseman from Black Panther, followed by Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Tom Hardy (Venom), Sophie Turner (X-Men: Dark Phoenix), and Evangeline Lilly (Ant-Man and the Wasp). Josh Brolin was considered to be the top choice as Most Anticipated Movie Villain for Avengers: Infinity War followed by Johnny Depp for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Michael B. Jordan for Black Panther, Jessica Chastain for X-Men: Dark Phoenix and Nick Castle for Halloween.

The top choices for the Most Anticipated Horror Thriller were led by the Untitled Cloverfield Movie followed by Halloween reboot, The Purge: The Island, Insidious: The Last Key and A Quiet Place. The Most Anticipated Family Movie poll was topped by Incredibles 2, which was followed by A Wrinkle In Time, Mary Poppins Returns, Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 and Hotel Transylvania 3; Summer Vacation. We need to wait and watch whether Fandango users have been accurate in choosing the biggest blockbusters of 2018.
