There were reports earlier in the week about Kim Jong Un being a Manchester United fan, but, now we have come to know that he also is a fan of Dragon Ball. The revelation was made on Twitter by a North Korean travel agency which shared information about the North Korean adaptation of Dragon Ball.

JS Tours specializing in North Korean tourism, have been persistent in their efforts to lure the Japanese tourists to visit their country. They keep tweeting things like “North Korea is a safe country! No terrorism, no thieving, no earthquakes.”

It is another story that not many people in Japan would associate “safe” with North Korea considering the fact that the North Koreans have launched a couple of missiles over their country in the last few days.

However, JS Tours are still actively campaigning to attract the Japanese tourists by drawing comparisons between their anime “The Boy General” being on par with Dragon Ball and a great attraction for all age groups. Although, it will be absurd to take the North Korean critics’ word about the show’s quality, but, if it indeed happens to be in the league of Dragon Ball then it has to be good.

Well, research on the series revealed that “The Boy General” is yet another North Korean propaganda. Although, it might still be worth watching for some reasons. After a gap of more than two decades, the first episode of The Boy General has been released, and it has a vastly different animation and features the lead character as a grown-up person.

It is a story about a boy who takes on the invading Japanese and Chinese forces in the ancient times of the kingdom of Goguryeo which was spread over North Korea and some parts of China from 1st century BC to 7th century AC. Original “The Boy General” show was extremely popular and had 50 episodes that ended in 1997.

Most of those episodes from the original series are available on YouTube, and we are sharing the first episode here for all those who love Dragon Ball and are curious to know how its North Korean version is.
