Nickelodeon is going to launch a new 2D Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon in 2018

The film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows tanked at the box office last year, and now the currently running Turtles cartoon is also going to finish after its season five gets over. This had caused a great deal of uncertainty about this franchise’s future. However, a new series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been announced by Nickelodeon, and it will be aired in the US in Autumn 2018. A UK date for the same hasn’t been announced yet.

‘Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will follow Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo on all-new adventures as they seek to unlock the mystical secrets of New York City.  From the tallest skyscraper to the dankest sewer drain, the Turtles will encounter absurd new mutants and battle bizarre creatures all while enjoying their favorite slice of pizza. Tapping into mystic, ninja powers they never knew existed, the four brothers must learn to work together and navigate the perils of the modern age and hidden realms in order to fulfill their destiny to become a team of heroes.’

It doesn’t sound to be a vast change from what we have seen so far. The most noticeable aspect is the mystery factor, but, we don’t know how it will pan out till next year. The most powerful clue is probably hidden in the title. The ongoing Nickelodeon series had its first episode title as Rise of the Turtles which showed the Turtles emerge out of the sewers and undertaking their first mission. Now, this new series is likely to feature the Turtles during their earliest adventures.

There was also the following statement released:

The Turtles is a property that has reinvention in its DNA, which keeps it fresh and relevant to every new generation while satisfying the demand from its adult fans,” said Cyma Zarghami, President, Nickelodeon Group in a statement. “Turtles has been an incredibly important franchise for us since we reignited it five years ago, and we’re excited for the new series to take the characters in a different direction with more humor, a younger and lighter feel and all-new dimensions to explore.”

Ant Ward and Andy Suriano are the co-executive producers of the upcoming series. Ant is also associated with the presently running series, and Andy is known for (Samurai Jack).

Geeks love the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series and its Season 4 recently ended with two extremely powerful episodes. We are quite excited to see how this new version of Turtles will be; we are not going to bid farewell to it as of now. The Season 5 of this series will debut in the US this month, and it will have a guest appearance from Mark Hamill.

We will update you further on Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as soon as fresh information is received.
