Wonder Woman battles the Apokolips general in the latest TV spot for Justice League.
In the latest TV spot, Wonder Woman is seen leaping into the battle and instantly doing away with at least one Parademon belonging to the Steppenwolf’s army. She then warns Steppenwolf saying that he has overestimated his ability of defeating Earth.
The first reference to Steppenwolf was made in a deleted scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The scene was once again added to the movie’s Ultimate Edition. In that scene, Lex Luthor is shown to be exploring a Kryptonian ship left abandoned afterZod’s attack in Man of Steel. He then activated a three-dimensional hologram of Steppenwolf surrounded by Mother Boxes.
Steppenwolf’s rivalry with Wonder Woman is going to be instant because we have already seen Steppenwolf land on Themiscyra, which is Wonder Woman’s homeland, during the earlier released footage of the Justice League. He is seen battling the Amazons. We don’t know if that was a flashback to any of his earlier visits to Earth or visuals of the present day.
There are also various contradictory reports regarding Steppenwolf’s relationship with Darkseid in the DCEU. Some sources claim that Steppenwolf is Darkseid’s uncle (just the way it was in comic books) and other say that the equation has been reversed in the movie.
