J.J. Abrams Hints That Rey’s Father Could Be a Kenobi.

By Nick Imholte

Theories have swirled surrounding Rey’s parentage since the release of “The Force Awakens.” This was mostly due to the fact that none of the new character’s back-stories were told in the newest Star Wars movie. Namely Rey (Daisy Ridley), Kylo Ren or Ben Solo (Adam Driver) and Finn (John Boyega) were all introduced but very little revealed about any of them other than the present adventure they are a part of. This has left a black hole which has created much speculation and lead to very little answers. Of course the most likely answers to Rey’s lineage would be either Luke Skywalker being her father, Rey being a Han Solo/Leia Organa offspring, a Kenobi, or several other less likely ideas. Other than the identity of Supreme Leader Snoke, Rey’s Back ground has been one of the biggest debated topics of the new Star Wars era. So after the release of “The Force Awakens,” we have had to wait quite a while for answers, or even hints for the matter.

This has left us watching every word that comes out of the Star Wars camp, and it has yielded very little, if any clues to any of the questions that “The Force Awakens” has left for fans. However, recently producer and writer, J.J. Abrams, revealed that Rey’s real parents did NOT appear in the Episode VII movie. This eliminates many of the possibilities and makes for the chances of a Kenobi Jedi prodigy a highly likely answer. That, or it opens an even bigger can of worms to being some of the more obscure theories that have reared their ugly head’s.

So what do you think? With Episode VIII still over a year from release, do you think that the possibility of a Kenobi offspring is a satisfying answer to a much debated question?

Star Wars: Episode VIII will hit cinemas on December 15, 2017.
