Did you, or didn’t you want more of Darth Maul in the Star Wars prequel films? Well, you’re not the only one who wanted him a little more. As it is, Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, anticipated that and wanted to see a greater amount of the red-skinned Sith Lord from Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.

The actor recently talked with Polygon at Disney’s D23 Expo. Hamill was there in support of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which appears as though it could be an awesome entry into a galaxy far, far away.

While talking about not a very great entry in the franchise, Hamill uncovered that he was very astonished that George Lucas chose to dispose Darth Maul towards the end of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and that the character ought to have shown up in each of the three prequels. This is what he said;

“Darth Maul was just the coolest looking. I couldn’t believe they disposed of him so quickly. I thought he would last through all three movies!”

It seems as if Mark Hamill represents every one of us on this one. Star Wars: The Phantom Menace did a great deal of things that were incorrect. Also, the things that it sort of did right, like Darth Maul, sort of got messed up. In fact, the most amazing thing from Episode I was discarded before the films had an opportunity to explore Darth Maul. However, he didn’t really die, regardless of the fact that Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith didn’t make use of that reality. The character was restored in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series and later in Star Wars Rebels.

Darth Maul remains a fan-most loved Star Wars character even after 20 years. A fatal, dexterous Sith Lord trained by the malicious Darth Sidious, Darth Maul was a considerable warrior and conspiring mastermind. His amazing and scary double-bladed lightsaber is one of the coolest and most savage we have ever witnessed on screen.

Despite the fact that he was sliced down the middle and fell an alarming distance in his fight against Obi-Wan Kenobi, after Qui-Gon Jinn was executed, the Sith was restored with a couple of metal legs and went ahead to make his due in the Star Wars canon for a long time.

At present, Marvel Comics has a Darth Maul series running, for audience who are still looking for a little more of the double-bladed lightsaber action. On the other hand, if you haven’t watched Star Wars Rebels yet, it is a decent place to start. Possibly one of the new foes in Star Wars: The Last Jedi will have one? We would be so fortunate. In any event, it’s cool to know Mark Hamill, as a Star Wars fan and not as one of the key figures of the franchise, feels a lot like a number of us do. Mark, don’t ever change.
