Fans of Marvel are more excited than any other time in recent memory for the monstrous Marvel Cinematic Universe event which is; Avengers: Infinity War. This was after the first footage from the film was uncovered amid Disney’s D23 Expo, and also Marvel Studios’ panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2017.

Amid Marvel’s press lines after the SDCC Hall H introduction, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige and Infinity War directors The Russo Brothers conversed with MTV about the movie and which characters may die conceivably. While Feige was more ambiguous and hesitant about the issue, Joe Russo took it head on, stating:

“I think fans should be prepared for some very intense surprises in these movies. My brother and I believe in stakes; I believe that everything has to come to an end at some point, in order for it to have value, and so I think the audience should be prepared.”

Feige likewise included;

“…I think it will be emotional for a lot of different reasons. And I think as all of our films try to do, we want to have laughs, we want to have the heart, we want to have the humor, and Infinity War has all that.”

MCU fans have, for a long time, expected Infinity War (right from when it was called Avengers 3 and 4 on the internet) to be the point where the very first generation of Avengers retires, and another one springs up in its place.

There are a large number of Marvel Comics ways that can be followed to move out significant characters like Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, and Black Widow without killing them for good. These could include retirement, regeneration, artificial aging, inter-dimensional uprooting or many others.

It just stays to be seen how many serious “risks” The Russo Brothers are into.
