Justice League will build the platform for a much larger DC Films Universe to follow, however, a lot of fans are focused on the connections that existed in the cinematic universe’s history.

A major DC Films Universe fan premise involves a potential crossover between Man of Steel and Aquaman that happened much before the happenings of Justice League and the same has now been confirmed officially by none other than Aquaman aka Jason Momoa himself.

Momoa was talking to DC All Access during the media junket of Justice League, and he shared that Zack Snyder had indeed used the ‘Aquaman saved Superman’ fan concept from Man of Steel as an official element of Aquaman’s origin story. Momoa said:

“I’ll give you a cool little thing that’s not in this movie, but that Zack told me for ‘Aquaman.’ In ‘Man of Steel’ when Henry [Cavill] is saving the oil rig, and he’s holding that up, and all of a sudden he kind of floats upon the ocean, he’s [Zack] like ‘I had Aquaman save him so that they did cross paths at one point.’ So then when Bruce goes ‘You ever heard of… Superman?’ I have met him and we have crossed paths.”

This confirmation might not be something that will ever be seen on screen in the DC Films Universe. However, it is truly a fabulous Easter egg that will delight DC fans about being canon now.

Cyborg actor Ray Fisher remarked that the DC films might have an underplayed connection, but, it is solid nonetheless. Fisher gave an example by referring to Batman v Superman football match between Gotham and Metropolis which sees Gotham being hammered because their quarterback Vic Stone couldn’t play as he was on his way to take on the mantle of Cyborg at the time.

Thus, it is clear now that Man of Steel has an Aquaman Easter egg.

Justice League releases this Friday.
