Jared Leto has recently commented on Warner Bros.’ new Joker film that will not be featuring him. Despite his method-acting techniques, DC fans were not thrilled by his portrayal of the Joker. There have been rumors of his dim future as the villain.
We do not know much about the production of the solo Joker movie, but many big industry names have been attached to it. Martin Scorsese will produce the film, and Todd Phillips is set to helm. No actor’s name has been announced as of yet, but reports claim that Leonardo DiCaprio is their dream casting.
However, there are many questions regarding the project and how it will affect the existing DCEU, especially Leto’s stint as the Joker.
While attending the Destiny 2 launch by Bungie, covered by ODE, the actor shared his thoughts regarding the other Joker project:
“I’m a little confused too, but yeah, there are a couple of things happening in the DC world, and I loved the Joker, he’s a great character, a really fun character to play. It’s a big universe, and when you play the Joker, there’s no ownership there. You have the honor of holding the baton for a little while and then passing it off. But there are other films in development, and I’m excited to see what comes from them.”
We must note that we are talking about the Academy Award winning actor and it is hard to decipher if what the actor said are true comments on the on-going commotion about the Joker film or not.
The actor is expected to appear in the Joker/Harley spin-off, from Glenn Ficarra and John Requa and yet another appearance in the Suicide Squad sequel and Gotham City Sirens.
Yes, it is unfair for Leto’s performance to be judged with only one movie. It will be great if gets opportunities that are meant to help him show off his skills rather than peppering him in a movie that does really not give him space to manoeuvre.
The Joker origin film is a mystery even for those working with Warner Bros. – like Leto. There has been no official announcement released by the film studio.
So we can sit back and watch the whole thing unfold before we get attached to any speculations and jump to conclusions.
