Fans managed to get some insight into the origin of the legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett when he came face to face with his father Jango Fett (Temeura Morrison) in the 2002 film Attack of the Clones. Ever since that first appearance, he has made occasional appearances as the character. Recently he stated during an interview that it would be a delight for him to play a character from Clone Wars in a live-action movie.

What’ll make me really happy is if I get the phone call asking me to play another character – an older Captain Rex or something,” Morrison told StarWars.au. “I want to pop in on one of these new ones, that would be great. Suggest it to them for me! Let’s get on to it!”

Besides, playing Jango Fett, Morrison’s cameo in Attack of the Clones changed the history of Star Wars. The film showed that Jango was the genetic source that was used to raise the clone army which served the Galactic Republic. Jango had made a request that another of his clones should be created to serve as his son, who was named “Boba” by him.

Since Boba Fett was Jango’s genetic clone, his voice was altered in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and he used Morrison’s voice in special versions of the movies.

Another outcome of Morrison’s character was seen in animation version The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, where the characters of the clones were Morrison’s replica images and that included the Captain Rex.

While Morrison is keen to play the role of an ageing Captain Rex, many fans have indicated that the franchise has already seen this character’s appearance.

There was a character in The Return of the Jedi who had a thick grey beard similar to Rex’s and he was a member of the Rebels on the Forest Moon of Endor. This has led to the speculation that this character was a future version of Rex.

At present, we just need to wait and watch if Rex ever debuts in a live-action episode of the saga.
