A new rumor hints that James Bond star, Daniel Craig is in the villain’s chair of the next X-Men movies spinoff.

According to Splash Report, Craig is currently being considered for the role of the main villain in Channing Tatum’s Gambit movie. The villain is the classic X-Men enemy Mr. Sinister.

Sinister, a brilliant geneticist Nathaniel Essex, was mentioned concerning the Gambit movie when rumored information about the plot in September:

“We jump to 10 years later; Gambit is hired to do a job in Paris to steal something from the Louvre Museum. It was apparently a test job to see if he still has it. His mysterious employer is revealed to be Nathaniel Essex a.k.a. Mr. Sinister. He offers Gambit 40 million to recover a mysterious trunk that was stolen by the Boudreaux clan. It will be auctioned off during the yearly Thieves Ball where all the criminal organizations in the world meet up. It uses New Orleans’ Mardi Gras celebrations as a cover. Gambit decides to enlist a crew of mutants to pull off this seemingly impossible heist…”

For those who do not know Mr. Sinister is, he is the X-Men’s greatest enemy after to Magneto and Apocalypse. While he is not a mutant, he is genetically altered and has different superpowers like regeneration and psychic abilities.

Nathaniel Essex was born in -era London and has lived a long life due to his genetic “gifts” of the former employer, Apocalypse. In his life, Sinister played puppetmaster in many X-Men’s lives, especially Cyclops and Jean Grey. Sinister was a presence at the orphanage where Scott Summers was born and cloned Jean Grey and created Madelyne Pryor, who would become Scott’s wife and their child, who grows up to be Cable.

Essex’s name was shown on a suitcase collecting genetic samples of Wolverine in the post-credits scene of X-Men: Apocalypse. The introduction of Mr. Sinister with a big star playing the character may mean huge things for the X-Men movies franchise.
