Thanos was first seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when he appeared in The Avengers in 2012, and later we saw him, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1, however, he has always been more of a fleeting glance till now. Avengers: Infinity War is the film that will bring everything seen in the last ten years of MCU on the table. While a lot of people haven’t yet seen Josh Brolin play Thanos, those who were fortunate enough to see the short teaser at the D23 Expo and also SDCC earlier have been gaga about having seen the Mad Titan hurl a planet. Brolin has now himself stated that Thanos is “next level” in the upcoming Infinity War film.

We are all expecting Josh Brolin to ramp it up and be the epitome of true villainy in MCU after several fantastic villains such as the Ego played by Kurt Russell to the character of Hela in the soon to release Thor: Ragnarok. The Russo Brothers adaptation of Thanos is highly anticipated, and fans are curious to see the Mad Titan on screen and wonder if it will be something as awesome as the comic storyline suggested. Brolin appeared for an interview with Collider recently and allayed some of the fans’ fears.

He is extremely enthusiastic about the new comic book roles, and his excitement is contagious as we will see him play Cable in the Deadpool sequel and then the supervillain Thanos in the Infinity War as well as Avengers 4. During his chat with Collider, Brolin expressed his feelings about the Marvel project. This is what he said:

” I can’t tell you definitively, but how I feel right now and what I’ve spoken to the Russos about and Feige, absolutely. It actually more than pulls it off, and I think what they’re coming up with based on what I’ve done, I think is next level.”

Undoubtedly, Josh Brolin is contributing to building more hype about Thanos in Infinity War, and we feel as if the wait for the movie’s release in summer is endless. Brolin further mentioned that there was no clear outline for Thanos’ character at the time when they joined the project. In fact, even Russo Brothers weren’t sure how intricate Thanos would ultimately be after the film was wrapped up. Brolin says:

I think they were very happy where they said, ‘We didn’t really realize that Thanos is going to be as complex as he is,’ and I think they were very appreciative with the stuff that we’re bringing to it.”

This is thrilling as well as comforting to hear about Thanos from someone who personally has been working to bring Thanos on the big screen. Fans are already very excited about Infinity War, and the new trailer couldn’t come any sooner. In fact, Brolin also mentioned about an intriguing influence on the character of Thanos. It transpires that Russo Brothers discussed The Godfather while narrating the character to Brolin. This is what Brolin said about it.

Look, I got Joe Russo who’s constantly resourcing like The Godfather and, ‘You have a gun to his f%$@ing head.’ I’m like, ‘I love you so much. The fact that you’re taking an Avengers scenario and you’re turning it into a Godfather thing for us to be able to kind of hang our hat on is great, and to emotionalize the whole thing.”

All said and considered, Thanos is going to be more three dimensional than ever in Avengers: Infinity War, and that’s great. Infinity War is set to release on April 25 next year, and we are waiting for the trailer to come out as soon as possible.
