How Much Will It Cost To Be Batman?

Is it even possible to be Batman? Can anyone afford the technology to be Batman? Can we make much of what we see that is being used by Batman in the Dark Knight movies?

Some of the technology does exist but putting them together to be used how Batman can be expensive. Using today’s technologies and cutting-edge designs, the cost of being Batman is has been estimated at $682,450,750. This includes his suit, manservant, vehicles, equipment, and mansion.

Let’s break this down:

The Suit

It is created from Nomexmaterials, it is insulating padding, fire-resistant and bullet-proof.

The suit is covered with armored plates and ribs for articulation and movement, and this makes it reasonably mobile. He may have to spend a lot of time training with it to learn where the blind spots are.

The suit armors most vulnerable spots like the shoulders, knees, elbows, shins, and forearms. The chest has a plate in the center of the zone people are taught to aim at.

The cape is made of a memory cloth polymer that can be used as a makeshift paraglider. And

A suit of armor includes a custom graphite bullet resistant cowl, and this may run one about $1,058,600.

Unlike the Iron Man armor, you need padding to protect you from the transfer of kinetic energy from the outside of your suit to the tender, meaty center within. How the Iron Man armor keeps Tony Stark from becoming pulpy, chunky monkey inside a can is still beyond the ken of mortal science.

The Vehicles

The Tumbler was developed for Wayne Enterprises Applied Sciences Division as a military bridging vehicle. Covered in weapons and capable of stealth mode operations, each unit cost a cool $18,000,000.

The Batpod, a motorcycle-like vehicle which acts as an escape vehicle from a burning Tumbler has 20” wheels and is capable of making a 90 degree turn almost instantly by rotating its wheels Steered by shoulder movements allowing for hands-free driving, it costs $1,500,000.

The Bat is a hovering, harrier-like vehicle capable of VTOL, flight, and acceleration. The estimated cost is $60,000,000.

“The Most Wonderful Toys”

There are just so many gadgets…

This is where the greatest cost of being Batman is incurred. Rebuilding the mansion, security, Bat supply kits, grounds, hollowing out and reinforcing the Batcave, gun ranges, installing supercomputers, the private forensic labs, medical facilities, the turnabout, more cars and all this comes to $600,000,000. This is not inclusive of Wayne manservant’s fees as both butler and domo for the estate, another $240,000 annually.

If we do assume he paid for the training and equivalent of a Doctorate in something and an engineering degree, throwing in military pilot training, this will sum up to $1,750,000 dollars worth of education.

Still Waiting for Batman

$682,450,750.

While we wait for a billionaire bold enough to take up this mantle of Batman, give up their life of comfort, luxurious penthouses and supermodels,  we have young industrial engineers who are working on their own prototype bat suit.
