Bryan Singer is now taking a break from X-Men and working on a biopic on Freddie Mercury, and Queen called Bohemian Rhapsody. The film will star Mr. Robot’s Rami Malek as the late lead singer.
Check out Malek in costume:
The movie will span 15 years of Mercury’s life. Malek had been taking voice lessons, and it is said that he will provide his vocals along with the work from Mercury.
Director, Bryan Singer, talks on the tone of the movie and how he wishes to capture the life of the band. He says,
“It won’t just be the dark Freddie story, but that being said, that also will be honored. It’s about collaboration. It’s a celebration.”
Mercury was a phenomenal performer, but due to complications with AIDS, he died when he was 45. Yes, it is hard to tell for now how good Malek’s performance will be. He will be taking on a role that was once for actors like Sacha Baron-Cohen and Ben Wishaw.
Here is the rest of the cast: guitarist Brian May (Gwilym Lee from Midsommer Murders), bassist John Deacon (Joe Mazzello from Jurassic Park) and drummer Roger Taylor (X-Men: Apocalypse’s Ben Hardy).
