Han Solo: Here’s Why Lucasfilm Took Extremely Long To Fire Phil Lord And Chris Miller

Lucasfilm terminating Phil Lord and Chris Miller from the Han Solo film came as a major shock for a few fans. One reason is on account of key photography which had just a few weeks left to shoot, and out of the blue, Miller and Lord were hauled out. So why did Lucasfilm take so much time to get them out? For reasons unknown, Lucasfilm was attempting to work with Lord and Miller; however the duo declined to bargain with the studio.

As indicated by Entertainment Weekly, Lord and Miller were promoting a lot of comedic creativeness from the on-screen characters. As a result, it was starting to divert from Kasdan’s fundamental story. EW stated:

“The variations added up to significantly change the story. They may have been brought aboard to give young Han Solo a wiseacre vibe and an irreverent style, but Lucasfilm still felt the directors had a responsibility to tell the story as written. When dailies began rolling in featuring improvisation from the actors and new ideas from the directors that significantly parted ways with the script, the relationship with the home office at Lucasfilm became fraught. As principal photography for the movie approached its end, it became clear that the filmmakers and producers did not share the same vision for some critical scenes. Reshoots were always possible (they are factored into almost every major film these days, and each new Star Wars project has undergone them), but as Lord and Miller dug in, refusing to compromise on what they saw as best for the film, the partnership went from strained to fractured.”

I kind of comprehend Lucasfilm’s side on the issue. Prior to the shooting of the film, a few reports have gone to state that the Han Solo script was the best Star Wars story ever composed, and I read some place that this will be Kasdan’s last Star Wars story. It’s only sensible that he would need the script that he wrote to matter, and not vanish into a heap of improvisations.

Let’s hope that the Han Solo motion picture doesn’t end up being a flop, and that we get the opportunity to appreciate the film the way it should be. Furthermore, Han Solo: A Star Wars Story is set to release on 25th May, 2018.
