The pilot for the new intended TV series of Tremors has finished the shooting and actor, Kevin Bacon has marked the occasion with a fun post which shows his character in a different light. Bacon is reprising the role of Graboid-catcher, Val McKee in the rebooted version of the movie franchise for Syfy, and with photography now complete, hopefully, a premiere date will be announced soon.

This movie franchise continues to roll on from the 1990 movie, which had set up the premise of the burrowing carnivorous worms known as Graboids, with the 5th sequel to be released next year. A TV reboot of Tremors with Bacon reprising this role was confirmed to be in development in November 2015, but it did not get off the ground until this year, and the actor announced that Syfy would be shooting a pilot for a new series.

Since then, the production was fast-tracked with Vincenzo Natali signing as the director. The pilot started shooting in October and was expected to finish in November. The location for the bulk of this shoot has been around Albuquerque, although on-set photos and details have been sparse. The filming has been completed on schedule and has been marked by Bacon during the weekend as he posted a photo on Instagram:

The photo shows a few broken Val McKee bubbleheads which are sure to become collector items. There is a message bidding goodbye to New Mexico and the “amazing time.”  He makes a statement that he hopes to “keep walking in these boots.” This refers to the fact that a series commission has yet to be confirmed by Syfy, and that might depend on the reaction the pilot gets. The bobbleheads are a reference to McKee’s financial situation in the story. He is said to be a “faded hero” who is living off past glories, and it makes sense that he may be trying to make money from his previous fame.

Hopefully, further news regarding this anticipated series and a premiere date for the pilot shall be revealed soon. A TV series was attempted in 2003, but did not work well. With Bacon playing the McKee and returning to Perfection with a disapproving daughter played by Emily Tremaine (Vinyl), it can recapture the original monster magic.
