Luke may think that it’s high time for the Jedi to end. However, that doesn’t mean he can’t put his lightsaber to great use. Well, at least we hope so. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is certainly going to guarantee some Luke Skywalker action for the very first time in the last 30 years.

We’re not including his moment of screen time towards the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was amazing. Nevertheless, would he put a lightsaber to great use in Star Wars 8? Well, Mark Hamill may have just let it slip out.

As it is, he was present at Disney’s D23 Expo, alongside the rest of the cast of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, to speak about the film and to debut another behind-the-scenes sizzle reel. Hamill talked with Fandango after the presentation. When quizzed about what it felt like to get a lightsaber once more, he gave a complete answer. He implied that there is a battle unquestionably. However, at that point he rapidly checked himself. Here’s what he stated;

“It’s frightening…And who knows? Do I pick one up again? Or don’t I?”

In the video he reacts with, “It’s frightening” before backtracking and attempting to divert us from the trail a bit. In any case, since he backtracked, we can’t affirm that Luke puts a lightsaber to great use in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. However, this seems to suggest that he will. This must be quite near the highest priority on everybody’s rundown with regard to stuff we truly want to watch in this movie. Probably, Lucasfilm realizes that also.

In the recently released behind-the-scenes reel, we do witness Luke really holding his old lightsaber, which was returned to him by Rey (Daisy Ridley) towards the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. So, he holds one in the film. In any case, the genuine inquiry is, does he utilize one? Or, then again to be more particular, does he battle with one? We’d all want to know how powerful Luke Skywalker has become in the past thirty years.

What’s more, we’d love to watch him deal with some First Order fools. For example, the Knights of Ren would be an awesome way to do that.

The response to this will evade us till Star Wars: The Last Jedi releases on 15th December. However, would Rian Johnson truly give us Luke Skywalker and not have him use a lightsaber? Watching him ignite a green lightsaber once again could be the “Chewie, we’re home” moment of this film. Let’s wait and watch. Meanwhile, you can look at the brief interview clip with Mark Hamill from D23 for yourself underneath.
