Yesterday, we had reported that Jim Henson’s Labyrinth is getting a sequel for the big screen, and today his production team has made another big announcement that their masterpiece “The Dark Crystal” from the 80’s is getting a Netflix series.
They haven’t revealed any release date yet, but the shooting is going to start this fall in the United Kingdom. This show will have 10 episodes, and all the concept work will be done by the artist Brian Froud, who carried out the conceptual artwork for the original 1982 Dark Crystal movie.
The name of the show is Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance, and it is a prequel to the 1982 movie. We have already seen that Jim Henson’s company dominates the puppetry market single-handedly, their knowledge in the art of puppetry is unmatchable at this point. Netflix’s executives are extremely optimistic and excited to land this show under the Netflix Originals banner. Here’s what Cindy Holland, VP Original Content at Netflix says about the show

Jim Henson’s company is creating the all the diverse and detailed creature puppets for this movie with their passion, and why wouldn’t they? Their beloved work from 80’s is getting another welcome to this world.
