Prince Akeem is coming back!

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, there is going to be a sequel to “Coming to America” after almost three decades since the original film had released. As reported, Eddie  Murphy is associated with the project, however, there is no clarity on whether he has a deal to feature in the movie. Jonathan Levine has been roped in as the director and the “Black-ish” maker Kenya Barris is redoing the script.

The news has surfaced only a few months since the deleted tweet by Murphy which had shown Vanessa Bell Calloway from the movie and the caption “Coming to America sequel?”

Murphy had featured alongside James Earl Jones, Calloway, Arsenio Hall, Shari Headley and John Amos in the film that was released in 1988 and was based on an African prince arriving in New York to avoid an arranged marriage and with plans to find a true lover in the Big Apple.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the prospects of “Coming to America 2” had been in discussion for a long time at Paramount, but, it was only this spring that things got finalized.
