The Flash aka Barry Allen will soon find out, just the way his father did earlier, how it feels to be imprisoned for a crime not committed by him.

Once CW comes back in January, we will see the hero go to jail while facing the trial for murder. The midseason premiere’s promo suggested that the episode will begin exactly at the point where this week’s episode ended.

The final midseason episode “Don’t Run,” finished the first portion of the season on the edge. We saw how Barry’s main enemy Clifford DeVoe aka The Thinker, left his body behind at Barry’s apartment after he relocated his consciousness into a younger and fitter man. After he lured Barry away from a celebratory get-together with his loved ones, DeVoe disclosed his intentions to Barry when he reached his apartment which had been set up to appear like a crime scene. The cops reached quickly, and Barry decided to face the consequences instead of running away.

The promo confirms that the show will not waste time on going ahead with the famous comic book tale “The Trial of Barry Allen,” therefore, it seems that Barry will find it difficult to prove that he is not guilty. DeVoe is able to foresee all possibilities, and that keeps him ahead of the others. He has worked out an impeccable case against Barry, and the only way that The Flash can come out of this one is by disclosing his real personality to the world.

The Flash will be back on Tuesday, January 16 on The CW.
