First DCEU film to come out was Man of Steel in 2013, and it was followed by the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. That brought forward several more character and it ultimately paved the way for DC’s big superhero team film Justice League. The film is coming up in a month’s time and is an outcome of four years of planning at Warner Bros.
The success of Wonder Woman has further convinced DCEU about its movie world in an unprecedented way. Justice League which has been extensively re-shot by the director Joss Whedon and irrespective of how the film places our favorite superheroes, the DC movies world is bound to expand with the passage of time. Let’s have a look at the 15 movies currently under works at DC.
15. SUICIDE SQUAD 2
While Suicide Squad wasn’t an all-round success, the way WB would have wanted it, but, it did make enough money to deserve a sequel. The sequel is slated to come out in 2019, though, it might get delayed a bit considering that the biggest star of the film Will Smith is not going to be available to shoot for it till fall 2018. The longtime span might just allow director Gavin O’Connor to make a fantastic sequel.
14. MAN OF STEEL 2
After Superman’s likely appearance in Justice League, Man of Steel might be made. As of now, WB is hunting for directors, and reportedly Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman) is under discussion for the job to create the future of Superman.
13. HARLEY AND JOKER
The film is under works at WB with Jared Leto, and Margot Robbie set to reprise their roles. The film doesn’t have a script or an official production timeline right now, but, it is likely to be a fantastic film featuring the Clown Prince of Crime and his Princess in the lead roles.
After a long time in the plans, this year’s San Diego Comic-Con revealed that Flashpoint based on The Flash would be made. The titular role will be performed by Ezra Miller, and Gal Gadot(Wonder Woman) is expected to be a part of this film as well as Jason Momoa (Aquaman). The film is scheduled for a 2020 release.
11. THE BATMAN
A Batman solo is in the plans after Justice League. However, it is a long way off. Ben Affleck is set to play The Dark Knight with Matt Reeves (War For The Planet Of The Apes) to direct this film. Joe Manganiello was to play the character of Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke, but, his involvement is not confirmed at this point.
10. GOTHAM CITY SIRENS
Gotham City Sirens will feature the evil team of Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn as the unexpected Gotham vigilantes. At present, it is not clear as who will direct the film. Margot Robbie is likely to reprise her role of Harley Quinn.
This film depicting the story of Billy Batson is the next new hero to be introduced on the big screen after Aquaman’s arrival next year. This David Sandberg (Lights Out) directed film has a release date marked as April 5th, 2019.
8. GREEN LANTERN CORPS
Green Lantern Corps has been officially announced at San Diego Comic-Con, and while we don’t yet know which all Lanterns will the film feature on, it is supposed to release in 2020.
There is no official confirmation about the existence of Richard “Dick” Grayson in the DCEU, but, a film featuring Nightwing is in the works. The film’s story is currently being prepared by Chris McKay (The Lego Batman Movie). The film’s cast and release schedule are undecided as of now.
6. BLACK ADAM
WB is planning to make a Black Adam film with Dwayne Johnson as the lead actor. This is one villain turned hero who is not known to those outside the comic world, and such a film is bound to be interesting now that this character is not going to feature in the Shazam film.
The next character to come on the big screen from Batman family is Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl. This iconic character will have a solo film most likely to be based on the concept that the Avengers director and Justice League co-director Jos Whedon has sold to WB.
4. JOKER ORIGIN
This Martin Scorsese produced movie will be directed and co-written by Todd Phillips (War Dogs). This film will be outside the established DCEU and will not be aimed at continuing as a franchise.
3. RED SON
This film’s production is not revealed beyond anything other than a Twitter exchange between Mark Millar, the writer of Elseworlds graphic novel and director Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island). This film is likely to be based on the possible premise of how things would be if Superman were brought up in the former Soviet Union instead of Kansas, USA.
Among those on the list, this is one DCEU film that is at the most advanced production stage and features Jason Momoa in the lead role with Amber Heard playing Mera. The iconic horror director James Wan is directing this film which is scheduled to release on December 21, 2018. This is a high stakes film, and the first trailer might come soon.
1. WONDER WOMAN 2
Wonder Woman had a record-shattering box-office debut, and the Gal Gadot starrer sequel will hit the theaters on December 13, 2019. The film is likely to feature Steve Trevor in some role and Diana might visit America in this film set in the 1980s.
